Your AEC Industry Accessibility Consultant — A Practitioner, Not an Observer.
AOG was founded by Dr. Becky Rehorn — a senior AEC industry leader who spent more than a decade inside the firms, the programs, and the projects that AOG now serves. And someone who depends on accessible digital content every day.

Dr. Becky Rehorn
DM, CPACC, CPSM | Founder & CEO
Becky Rehorn is the founder of Accessible Organizations Group LLC (AOG), a consultancy focused on helping organizations in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry and public agencies address the growing demands of ADA Title II digital accessibility.
With more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications, public engagement, organizational leadership, and complex project environments, Becky brings a practical, implementation-focused perspective to accessibility work. Her career has spanned leadership roles in consulting, communications, and marketing, with deep experience supporting public-sector initiatives, infrastructure programs, and highly regulated stakeholder environments where clarity, accountability, and public trust matter.
She also brings lived experience. Becky has ADHD and age-related vision impairment. She uses assistive technology daily — not because she cannot see the text on the screen, but because hearing content read aloud helps her brain organize and retain information and reduces the strain on her eyes. When she opens a well-structured document with clear headings, logical reading order, and properly tagged content, assistive technology moves through it the way the author intended. When she opens a PDF built without structure, the audio jumps between elements in no logical order, tables become disconnected numbers with no context, and images are skipped entirely. For her, accessible digital content is not an abstract concept. It is how she does her job.
“I use assistive technology every day. When I open a well-structured document, I get the information I need. When I open one built without structure, I am left guessing. That experience is what drives everything AOG does — because I know exactly what is at stake when content is not accessible.”
— Dr. Becky Rehorn
Becky founded AOG to help organizations respond to accessibility requirements in a way that is practical, organized, and sustainable. She understands that many agencies and firms are facing new expectations around digital content, documents, websites, and public-facing communications, but often need a clear path forward rather than abstract guidance. Through AOG, she helps clients identify barriers, prioritize improvements, and strengthen the internal practices needed to support more accessible digital experiences over time.
What distinguishes Becky’s work is the combination of hands-on communications expertise and research-based organizational insight. She holds a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership, and her doctoral research examined the relationships among employee engagement, social health, organizational trust, and exit intention. That work led to the development of the Cultural-Social Motivation Model for Organizations, an interpretive framework that brings together motivation, social exchange, and organizational culture to better understand how people experience organizations and why they stay, disengage, or leave.
That same lens informs her approach to accessibility. Becky believes lasting accessibility progress depends not only on technical fixes, but also on leadership commitment, clear communication, trust, training, and sustainable organizational practices. Her work is grounded in the belief that accessibility should be integrated into how organizations operate — not treated as a one-time checklist.
Through AOG, Becky helps AEC firms and public agencies take practical steps toward stronger digital accessibility practices, with a focus on clarity, usability, and long-term organizational readiness.
How AOG Works as an AEC Industry Accessibility Consultant

Built to Reduce the Burden
One of the biggest barriers to accessibility adoption is cognitive load — teams are asked to learn new standards, new tools, and new workflows on top of their existing workload. Dr. Rehorn has developed practical tools and resources specifically designed to reduce that burden: checklists, templates, decision guides, and workflow aids that make it easier for content authors, document producers, and public involvement staff to build accessible content into their existing processes without starting from scratch.
This is what separates AOG from firms that audit and walk away. AOG equips your team to sustain compliance on their own.
Grounded in Original Research
The Cultural-Social Motivation Model that Dr. Rehorn developed through her doctoral research has direct application to the challenge AOG’s clients face. Accessibility compliance requires more than a technical fix — it requires staff to adopt new workflows, learn new tools, and change how they produce content. Organizations that treat this as a one-time remediation project watch their compliance erode within months as new non-conformant content replaces what was fixed. The model informs how AOG designs training, builds internal buy-in, and helps agencies create the conditions where accessibility becomes embedded in how work gets done — not layered on top of it.
The Cultural-Social Motivation Model represents original, practitioner-developed research on how people experience organizations — and it is the foundation AOG brings to the challenge of embedding accessibility into organizational culture and practice.

Making Access the Standard
In April 2024, the Department of Justice issued a final rule requiring all state and local government digital content to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. The first compliance deadline — April 24, 2026 — has now passed for state agencies and large entities.
But the mandate did not come with the capability to meet it. Most public agencies have no internal WCAG expertise. Most AEC consulting firms — the ones producing the environmental documents, project websites, public involvement materials, and planning reports that DOTs publish — have no accessibility capability at all.
AOG was founded to change that. Not as an outside accessibility firm learning about public engagement for the first time, but as a practitioner-led consultancy built by someone who has worked inside these organizations, understands how the work gets done, and believes that access should be the standard — not the afterthought.
And not as someone who understands accessibility only as a set of technical requirements, but as someone who lives it — who depends on accessible content to process information, do her work, and participate fully in the digital world that the rest of us take for granted.
“Compliance is the floor. Access is the purpose.”
